Mentor Mentee Programme
INTRODUCTION
The concept of mentoring originates from ancient Greek mythology. In Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey, written by Homer, a character named Mentor was entrusted with the care and guidance of Odysseus’ son, Telemachus, while Odysseus was away at war. Mentor acted as a trusted advisor, teacher, and guide, symbolizing wisdom, support, and counsel.
Over time, the name “Mentor” became synonymous with a wise and trusted guide. The mentor–mentee concept has since evolved into a structured system used in education, professional training, and leadership development to provide guidance, support, and holistic growth.
The transition from a student to a medical professional is a journey of rigorous academic pursuit and profound personal growth. At Maharani Laxmi Bai (MLB) Medical College, Jhansi, we believe that every student deserves a guiding hand to navigate the challenges of medical education. Our Mentor-Mentee Programme is designed to foster a supportive environment, ensuring holistic development for every MBBS student.
