Foundation Course

National Medical Commission mandates a Foundation Course for all newly admitted MBBS students under the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum. In accordance with these guidelines, the Foundation Course is conducted at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College at the beginning of the MBBS Phase-I academic session.

About the Foundation Course

The Foundation Course is a structured induction programme designed to facilitate the smooth transition of students from school education to the professional medical curriculum. It aims to orient students to the medical profession, institutional environment, ethical responsibilities, and expectations of the MBBS programme.
The course is compulsory for all first-year MBBS students, and attendance is maintained as per NMC norms.

White Coat Ceremony

The Foundation Course culminates in the White Coat Ceremony, a solemn and symbolic event marking the formal induction of students into the noble profession of medicine. During the ceremony, students don the white coat for the first time and reaffirm their commitment to ethical practice, compassion, and professional integrity. The ceremony serves as a significant milestone in the academic journey of MBBS students at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, reinforcing the values of service, responsibility, and dedication to patient care.
