National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026 Organised at MLB Medical College, Jhansi

The ADR Monitoring Centre (AMC), Department of Pharmacology, Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, organised National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026 from 17 to 23 September 2026.
The theme of this year’s Pharmacovigilance Week was “Promoting Rational Use of Medicines Through Pharmacovigilance: A Step Towards Safer Healthcare.”
The inaugural ceremony was held on 17 September 2026 at the Department of Pharmacology, MLB Medical College, Jhansi. Dr. B.P. Kale, Dr. Arvind Chansoria, and Dr. Lily Dubey graced the occasion as guests. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mani Goel, Coordinator, and Dr. Neeraj Srivastava, Deputy Coordinator.
Throughout the week, participants including medical students, in-patients, healthcare professionals, and members of the general public were sensitised to the importance of pharmacovigilance and its role in ensuring medication safety. Detailed information was provided on various ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) reporting tools, including ADR Reporting Forms, the Toll-Free Helpline No. 1800 180 3024, and the Mobile App QR Code. Special emphasis was placed on identifying suspected adverse drug reactions and the importance of their timely reporting.
The programme also highlighted the theme “Role of Pharmacovigilance in Medical Education.” Discussions focused on creating awareness among future healthcare professionals about medication safety, identification of adverse drug reactions, and timely reporting.
Various awareness activities were conducted throughout the week for MBBS students, interns, nursing staff, pharmacists, healthcare workers associated with PHCs and CHCs, in-patients, and the general public. Public awareness activities were also carried out across the hospital premises. Banners, posters, and pamphlets containing information on pharmacovigilance, rational use of medicines, ADR reporting, and patient safety were displayed and distributed.
In addition, a Symposium was organised for medical students, providing an interactive platform for discussion on important aspects of pharmacovigilance, ADR reporting, medication safety, and patient care.
The programme concluded with the Closing Ceremony on 23 September 2026, marking the successful culmination of the week-long awareness activities organised as part of National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026.
Throughout the week, students, healthcare professionals, patients, and members of the general public participated actively in the various activities. The programme helped strengthen awareness about medication safety, the rational and responsible use of medicines, and the importance of timely reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions.
