Department of Biochemistry

INTRODUCTION

The Department currently has Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors (Sanctioned), along with six Demonstrators and other non-teaching supporting staff.

The Department is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning to develop essential competencies among medical students. To achieve this, the Department emphasizes case scenario-based learning and problem-solving skills, which are regularly assessed through a structured system of serial formative and summative assessments.

The Department is also committed to providing quality patient care through the establishment and development of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, including the CPL (Clinical Biochemistry) laboratory.

The faculty members are actively engaged in research activities in the field of basic biomedical sciences, with a focus on research having translational potential. At present, all faculty members are involved in research related to medical education.

The Department also conducts summer training programmes for M.Sc. Biochemistry students from various Central and State Universities. In addition, the faculty members contribute to teaching and academic activities for B.Sc. Nursing and DMLT/BMLT courses.
